The Replacement Frame screen gives you the ability to redirect certain hyperlinks throughout the M5 System from their default frames to screen designer frames.
For example, you may have a specific Work Order Main created for a group of mechanics in your organization. With this frame you can redirect any Work Order Main links in the system to that custom Work Order Main frame.
Please note, this functionality only applies to links within the application such as those that appear on screens or in the 'Related' drop down menus of certain screens. It does not apply to Favorite links or Menu links.
As an example, if you've already added Work Request Query to your favorites and then replace Work Request Query on Replacement Frame with a custom, Screen Designed version, that favorite link will still be linked to the old/original Work Request Query. The same goes for any menus that have the old/original Work Request Query on them. Those will not be replaced, it will still link to the old/original WR Query screen.
This functionality is only available for the following Default Frames: Accident Entry, Customer View, Driver Main, Employee/Driver Main, Employee Main, Incident Entry, Unit Main, Work Order Main, Work Order Express, and Work Request Query.
After you select the default frame to replace, select whether you want the change to apply on a Global level (meaning system-wide) or if the change will be Role based. If it is role based, enter the appropriate role from Role Maintenance.
Note: ROLE settings will override any GLOBAL setting if the role setting is something other than the standard/default screen value.
Then enter the Replacement Frame, this must be a screen designer frame. You can double-click in the field to select a screen designer frame from the list of values (LOV). When finished, click the 'Save' button at the top of the frame to implement the replacement frame functionality.
If you select a replacement frame that has already been used, the first default frame that the replacement was assigned to will appear when you change the frame. This is because of the system architecture and can't be avoided.
