Multi Language Setup Overview

M5 supports two additional languages within the base application. This allows customers to create and maintain descriptions for the job related code definitions in two alternate languages of their choice.

The actual language(s) are configured within the M5 Parameter “CODE_LOCALE_IDS”.  The values are to be entered with a semi-colon between as shown  below:

Customers must contact their AssetWorks Project Manager or M5 Support to initiate assistance to update the new M5 parameter value or have their internal IT/System Administrator update via script directly within the table if applicable.

This feature applies only to the following codes/description within M5:

The following frames have been designed to allow clients to enter or maintain the additional descriptions if the M5 parameter value “CODE_LOCALE_IDS” has been configured:

The actual language used in M5 for the description will be determined by matching the language on the browser with one of the two languages specified in the ‘CODE_LOCALE_IDS’ M5 Parameter.

If the browser language does not match either language, then the base description will be used.

In order to support the additional languages, AssetWorks modified many tables and views to add the alternate language descriptions. The columns built to support the descriptions are “description2” and “description3”.

Reports were modified to support the choice of language if they utilize any of the codes/descriptions that allow for alternate languages.
